Lykke Li // Dave Sitek

Swedish beaut Lykke Li is making sweet music again with 'I Follow Rivers,' just released earlier this month and the anthem of her second album 'Wounded Rhymes.' Only this girl can make trumpets sound sexy. And TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek did a phenomenal job making it extra special and danceyourpantsoff-worthy.

Fine Day

It's going to be a fine day tonight...We've all heard that song a million times and I know I am sick of it. Erlend Oye (Kings of Convenience / Whitest Boy Alive) breathes new life into an overplayed club track. Like the Brits say...GORGEOUS!

White Wishes

I can't wait to listen to this White Wishes track on my commute into the City tomorrow morning. Bright and early. The title pretty much sums up exactly what I was feeling when I made my big move to London. And they are from Berlin which is where I hope to take my first sweet jet-setter weekend trip.

And another one...

VIOLET

Nothing makes a dreary day better than a trip to the best cupcake shop in East London. When I arrived at Violet, I did not hold back. Vanilla cake with Violet infused frosting (above), Chocolate on Chocolate and Vanilla Bean were all devoured following a slice of delicious home-made spinach quiche. Fat and Happy.

RÜFÜS

It's 80 degrees in Sydney and I just watched it hail outside my window in London. At least this new Aussie trio RÜFÜS is giving me a little taste of Summertime. They just released their first 6-track EP and are 100% worth watching in 2011.

Spotted in Shoreditch.

Pug pirate & friends. What a masterpiece.

Little Red // Dublin Aunts

More good music from AUS. This Little Red remix makes me want to skip down the cobblestone streets of London. The original is much more mellow, but still download-worthy.

Chromatics

If I go to an after-party and I hear a good song that I need to have, I am never shy about it. Enter Chromatics, hailing from Portland, OR (same city and record label as the amazing Glass Candy). Here's one track from their most recent 2010 album, an oldie and a sweet lil cover of not just any song -- but my favorite song by the Boss himself.

Chromatics - In The City

Chromatics - Circled Sun

Magic Dance

Listened to this song while perusing Dover Street Market (neighbor to Acne) in Mayfair today and was shocked to find out that it's a German disco tune from 1978. Pretty impressive if you ask lil old me. I initially got myself ready for Electric Feel, but then I heard Su's nice, cool beat drop.

The Radio Dept.

Feels great to be back in action on the blog after my big move to the big L (ondon). New year, new city. This sweet tune by Swedish trio The Radio Dept has made it onto every playlist of mine over the past few weeks of driving, flying, tubing, packing, un-packing. Now it's playing in my cozy flat after a nice home-cooked meal with my man and our pooches. Background music is always a must.

(SF homies: Take your Valentine to see them live at the Independent on Feb 15)

Penguin Prison // RAC

Penguin Prison can do no wrong in my eyes. Every song and remix of his makes me want to get up and DANCE. Happy, giddy, lively beats. Although this track has been roaming around the internet for a while, it doesn't officially release until later this year. RAC (Remix Artist Collective) did a phenomenal job spicing it up as well. God. I. Love. Music.

Prince Language // Washed Out

NYC's Prince Language and chillwave producer Ernest Greene (Washed Out) both seem to think that Gary Low's "I Want You" needed a facelift. I agree. The original 80's italo disco track is not my cup of tea, but these two re-works are pretty solid.
